Ok, so I obviously went shopping last week. I do not have everything done for my family however, I do know exactly what I am getting everyone and I do know what it will cost and where to get it.
So my tip is before you start shopping make a list. Yup, just like going to the grocery store! Figure out just what little Johnny and Jane want for Christmas. Get ideas from them and then price them. For me it's not hard to price. I use Amazon.com a LOT. We are also at Walmart now and then..whatever. This needs to be done BEFORE Thanksgiving. That way when the ads come out for Friday you KNOW if it's a good idea to go out or not. For us, there was not a TON of stuff on our lists that were great prices which worked out because Thanksgiving fell between pay periods which meant not a lot of cash to spend anyway.
I have my husband bought for, my dad bought for and a start on each of the girls. This weekend I will be finishing up. Most of what's left is ordering stuff online, so then when it comes in I will wrap it and hide it and then relax until the baking bug finds me and motivates me to bake and bake and bake and bake some more ;)
It's frugal and it's great. Also a trick I am going to do starting this Christmas (I'm asking for a REALLY neat coin bank for Christmas) is saving all our change for the year (the one I want holds 600 dollars approximately in change) and using THAT for Christmas shopping next year's Black Friday ;) If you don't want to keep all that change in your house, use it to open a Christmas Club account at your local bank!!!

I posted yours at Shannon's blog for you :)
Great idea. Better than mine which is not practical for everybody. I start shopping for Christmas in July. A little at a time. By the time Christmas comes, I am done. No parking problems, no rushes. But, you have to be motivated. I save with Bank of America's "Save The Change Program".
Glad you got a good start on your shopping - can't wait to see what happens around here when the 'baking bug' hits! : )
That's a great idea.

Have a great day!
I also find that knowing what I am getting, and knowing the price and location of it is half the christmas shopping battle.
We use a change jar for everything. It paid for the pups first shots and she is just about due for her second and there is almost enough in tehre to pay for those as well!
A change jar is an awesome way to save $$$
You are so right hon! I have a list of what I have gotten for people as well as a gift idea list. It makes things so much easier.
Great idea my friend.
